Hour of Code

This week a very special event will be taking place world wide.  This event is called, "Hour of Code."
We will be taking part in this very exciting event.  You will be having the opportunity to explore and use computer programming codes to create a computer program.  We will start our first class this week watching the video, "Code."  I think you may recognize some of the "stars" in this video.  After hearing what some of the experts have to share about coding and computer programming, you will try you hand at it.  You will need to start in the Hour of Code home; Code.org.  Please go to the first option, "Puzzle 1 of 20".  You need to skip the video, as we have already seen it.  You will then begin by trying to move through the maze. Be sure to read and think.  There are hints and tutorials in the bottom left corner of the maze.  Check out the "Show Code" tab in the top right corner.  This is what the true "code" looks like.  Good luck!!

During class two this week, you will continue working with computer programming.  Before you get started, check out this pretty cool kid.  There are so many opportunities and careers available in the computer programming field.  Perhaps one day you will have a job as a computer programmer.  You will have some tutorials to guide you on this exploration.  Please check out the Computer Science Education Week site.  Here you will find a large number of tutorials showing you a variety of programming options.  Please select one and try to complete your second computer program.  Have fun!

If you should finish before the end of class either day, you may work on your blogs!!
